Cable x Maryanne Moodie
About Maryanne
Maryanne Moodie is a fibre-obsessed maker based in Melbourne. She divides her time between designing and creating woven wall hangings, developing weaving kits, and teaching sold out workshops across the world. Maryanne is best known for applying unexpected colour combinations to her nostalgic designs. She is inspired by the intricacies of vintage textiles, traditional costuming, modern art, and the natural world.
Maryanne’s work has been featured in New York Magazine, Anthology, O Magazine, Grazia, Interwoven, and online on Design*Sponge and The Design Files. A finalist in the Martha Stewart American Made Awards in both 2014 and 2015, she sells her work on Etsy and through online shops and boutiques around the country.
The Collaboration
Cable is excited to be partnering with renowned weaving artist, Maryanne Moodie, for an interactive artwork installation at the new Cable pop-up boutique in Chadstone Shopping Centre. The partnership flourished from a mutual love of natural fibres, sustainability in the textile industry, and wool in its many forms.
Maryanne will be creating a one-of-a-kind, bespoke woven artwork piece, live in the Cable window on Thursday 30th November, allowing Chadstone shoppers the chance to see an artist live at work, and interact with Maryanne whilst she weaves.
Maryanne will be using off-cuts from Cable wool balls, incorporating a piece of Cable into the artwork. Her own off-cuts will be collected and recycled by a local spinner to create new fibres, ready for Maryanne to use on her next project. This full circle moment is a representation of Cable and Maryanne’s dedication to sustainability and renewable resources.
The custom piece Maryanne is creating for us will embody Cable’s heritage and history in knitwear and the Australian Merino wool industry.
